A community organized event through the Emily Carr Ceramics club and Shadbolt Arts Center in Burnaby. A soda firing consists of a technique of using bisque-ware, glazes, flashing slips, and masking techniques in a reduction fired gas kiln and adding soda ash to create unique atmospheric effects.
I used this opportunity to make functional oil bottles and vases while learning a new technique for ceramic finishing.
