This set of mugs resemble the formation of a set of cogs. The fluted sides and cylindrical form allow the mugs to nest together.
Process for this set began with modeling in rhino and then 3D printing the postive with PLA. After, a negative is formed with plaster to make a one part mold for the cup and a two part mold for the handle. Then, the final form can be repeated through a slip cast process and fired at cone 6 in a electric kiln.
The cups are finished with a matte glaze that was made and tested through a series of testing. Finished glaze body was then toned in various colours forming a finished and functional set of dinner ware.
